Art. 1 The Cultural and Musical Association "EUTERPE" in cooperation with the Department of Culture, Corato Municipal Town Council, indexes and organizes: The 22nd International Music Competition "EUTERPE" , which will be held from 31st May to 7th June 2023 in the theatre of Corato (Bari) Italy.

with the Sponsorship of:

Art. 2 The aim of the Competition is to promote both musical culture and music performance in order to encourage young students in their study of music, to search for young talent and to attract visitors to come to the beautiful Southern Region of Puglia in Italy.

Art. 3 The Competition is divided into 5 sections:

1. SOLOISTS (Piano - Strings Singing- Accordion Guitar Wind Instruments)

2. PIANO 4 HANDS

3. CHAMBER MUSIC from Duo on, all formations, with or without piano. (Max. 9 members)

4. CHOIR, ORCHESTRA and SIMILAR

SOLOISTS

PIANO - STRINGS and WIND Instruments Categories are age-defined for musicians born after:

A 1st January 2015 on Max 5 mins.

B 1st January 2013 on Max 7 mins.

C 1st January 2011 on Max 11 mins.

D 1st January 2008 on Max 13 mins.

E 1st January 2005 on Max 15 mins.

F 1st January 2000 on Max 20 mins.

G No age limit. Max 25 mins.

ACCORDION and GUITAR Categories are age-defined for musicians born after:

A 1st January 2011 on Max 7 mins.

B 1st January 2008on Max 11 mins.

CHOIRS - ORCHESTRAS - SIMILAR - STREET BANDS Categories are age-defined for musicians born after:

A 1st January 2008 on Max 12 mins.

B 1st January 2004 on Max 15 mins.

C No age limit. Max 20 mins

N. B. FOR SECTIONS 2, 3, 4, 5 THE AVERAGE AGE OF THE GROUP IS CONSIDERED.

Art. 5 The absolute winners of the previous edition may enroll in an advanced category.

Art. 6 Contestants may enroll in more than one section, but in only one category in each section.

Art. 7 Contestants may choose to enroll in an advanced category.

Art. 8 All competition heats are open to the public. The results are announced at the end of each category.

Art. 9 Candidates will be called in alphabetic order, starting from the surname drawn by lot by the Organizing Committee the day before the Competition.

Candidates who arrive late will be allowed to participate at the Judges discretion.

Art. 10 Candidates must exhibit their Personal Identification Document and two copies of scores of their chosen pieces to the Judges before the exam.

REGISTRATION

Art. 11 All registration forms must be sent to the Association by May 25th 2023 May 15th 2023.

(The postal date is considered binding.) Candidates must include a copy of their Birth Certificate (or signed declaration thereof) and the Registration Fee made out to the

Associazione Culturale Musicale Euterpe Via Andria, 17 - 70033 Corato (Ba) Italy.

Art. 13 The fee is not subject to refund except in the case of cancellation of the Competition.

THE REGISTRATION FEE INCLUDES A DIGITALLY RECORDED CD OR DVD COPY OF EACH CANDIDATES PERFORMANCE EDITED BY AUDIONOVA IMMAGINE SONORA - MATERA.

Participants who require an accompanying piano must indicate this on the registration form and pay the following additional quota:

ATTENTION

FOR PARTICIPANTS REQUESTING THE ACCOMPANYING PIANIST, THE CHANGE OF PROGRAM AFTER THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED.

ONE COPY (pdf) OF THE PIANO SCORE MUST BE ATTACHED TO THE REGISTRATION FORM.

ALL PARTICIPANTS, AT THEIR ARRIVAL TO THE THEATRE, HAVE TO REGISTER THEMSELVES TO THE SECRETARY AND GIVE TWO COPIES OF THEIR EXECUTION LIST .

THE JUDGES

Art. 14 The Panel, selected by members of the Organizing Committee, will be made up of teachers from the Conservatory, concert artists and famous musicians. The Judges decisions are final; Judges can interrupt performances if and when they exceed the time limit (see Art. 4).

JUDGES ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SUBMIT THEIR STUDENTS.

CONCERT PRIZES will also be assigned:

1 Concert to the absolute winner with the highest grade among :

Section 1 ACCORDION cat. E, WIND Instruments cat. G and GUITAR cat. E

1 Concert to the absolute winner of Section 1 SINGING cat. B

1 Concert to the absolute winner of Section 3 CHAMBER MUSIC cat. E

If there are no absolute winners in the above categories, the Concerts may be assigned to other First Prize winners at the discretion of the Artistic Director.

CONCERT PRIZES ALSO INCLUDE THE REIMBURSEMENT OF TRAVEL EXPENSES (ONLY WITHIN ITALY) ON THE PRESENTATION OF TICKETS.

DIPLOMAS will be assigned:

score from 98 to 100 FIRST ABSOLUTE PRIZE Diploma and Medal.

score from 95 to 97 FIRST PRIZE Diploma and Medal.

score from 90 to 94 SECOND PRIZE Diploma and Medal.

score from 80 to 89 THIRD PRIZE Diploma and Medal.

score from 70 to 80 MERIT Diploma and Medal.

score under 70 PARTICIPATION Diploma

SPECIAL PRIZES FOR TEACHER

A DIPLOMA of HONOUR will be awarded to the Best Teacher.

AN OVERNIGHT STAY WILL BE AWARDED TO THE TEACHER WHO ENROLLS THE MOST PUPILS (at least 5)

MEDAL BEST MUSIC TEACHER 2019 assigned to the teacher with the most winning pupils.

If the students total points are more than 700, the teacher will receive an Apple IPAD

Art. 16 The winners will receive their prizes during the Closing Evening Ceremony, and only then, or risk losing the prize. Other prizes may be collected in the Secretariat during the Competition itself.

First Absolute Prize winners and other First Prize winners selected by the Judges, will perform for free in full concert dress in the Gala Concerts to be held on : 20th October (Sections : Strings, Accordion, Singing, Chamber Music and Orchestra), 27th October ( Piano, Piano four hands) .

THESE PERFORMANCES WILL BE RECORDED LIVE ON CD OR DVD

DURING THE FINAL CONCERT, THE FOLLOWING WILL BE AWARDED:

LIVE RECORDING PRIZE: Awarded by a panel made up of the Competition Artistic Director, the President and Musical Director of AUDIONOVA, Matera.

TROPHY EUTERPE 2023 A Picture by MARIA LUISA CIALDELLA (painter from Corato) Awarded by a panel made up of the President, Artistic director, Judges, journalists and 10 members of the public chosen on the night.

Art. 17 The competitors, while register to the competition, authorize the diffusion of the photographic, radio, television and recordings. Can not claim any funding from the organization or the transmitting agency.

ANYONE WHO DOES NOT AUTHORIZE THE FILMING, HAVE TO NOTIFY AT THE MOMENT OF REGISTRATION.

Art. 18 The organizers reserve the right to make any changes deemed necessary to these rules.

Art. 19 The Musical Association Euterpe is not responsible for any unforeseen accidents or damage that may occur to anybody or anythings during the course of the Competition .

Art. 20 These rules are unconditionally binding.

Art. 21 All personal information and data given to the Musical Association Euterpe is strictly confidential in accordance with Italian Law (Art. 10 Law 675/96).
