Art. 1 The Cultural and Musical Association "EUTERPE" in cooperation with the Department of Culture, Corato Municipal Town Council, will organize the “ EUTERPE International Piano Competition” which be held from 3rd to 7th June 2023 in the town theatre of Corato (Bari) Italy

with the Sponsorship of:

· Puglia Region “Department of Industry of Tourism and Culture”

· National Park “Alta Murgia”

· Rotary Club International – Section of Corato

· Fondazione Cannillo - Corato

· Fondazione Vincenzo Casillo - Corato

Art. 2 The aim of the Competition is to promote both Musical Culture and music performance in order to encourage young students in their study of music, to search for young talent and to attract visitors to come to the beautiful Southern Region of Puglia in Italy.

Art. 3 COMPETITION

The competition is opened to pianists born from January 1985 on.

The competition is divided into two rounds: PRELIMINARY ROUND and FINAL ROUND

PRELIMINARY ROUND

Free choice of programme up to 20 minutes but must include:

· EITHER one movement of piano sonata by W.A. Mozart or F. J. Haydn or L.v. Beethoven, OR one Prelude and Fugue from the “Well Tempered Klavier” by J. S. Bach.

FINAL ROUND

Free choice of musical excerpt of up to 40 minutes. However, you are not allowed to repeat the pieces played in the Preliminary Round.

ALL PIECES ARE REQUIRED TO PLAY FROM MEMORY

All the competition rounds are open to the public. Results will be announced at the end of each Round.

Art. 4 The official competition calendar will be issued on 12th may and will be available on our website.

Art. 5 Candidates on their arrival must register in the secretariat.

Art. 6 They will be heard in the order published. Competitors who arrive late will only be admitted to play at the discretion of the artistic director.

Art. 7 Before the competition, all competitors are required to show their identification documents such as the passport to the steward and prepare TWO copies of their chosen repertoire for the Judges.

Art. 8 All registration forms must be completed and sent to the Association by MAY 5th

REGISTRATION FEE €. 120,00

Art. 9 The fee is not subject to refund, except in the case of cancellation of the Competition.

THE JUDGES

Art. 10 The Panel, selected by members of the Organising Committee, will be made up of teachers from different Conservatories, concert artists and well-known musicians.

Art. 11 The Judges’ decisions are final. Judges have a right to curtail a performance when the time limit is exceeded or when they feel there is a necessity to do so . (see number 3).

JUDGES ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SUBMIT THEIR STUDENTS.

PRIZES

Art. 12 The Competition will award THREE PRIZES and ONE SPECIAL PRIZES

FIRST PRIZE Scholarship of €. 1.500,00 - 2 concerts - First Prize diploma, trophy or plaque.

SECOND PRIZE Scholarship of €. 1000,00, - 1 concert - Second Prize diploma, trophy or plaque.

THIRD PRIZE Scholarship of €. 500,00 - Third Prize diploma, trophy or plaque.

SPECIAL PRIZE “J.S. Bach” Scholarship of €. 500,00 - trophy or plaque .

Assigned to the best execution of a composition of J. S. Bach

ALL FINALISTS a Finalists Diploma and a medal.

N.B. ALL CASH AWARDS ARE FINAL GROSS PAYMENT AND WILL BE PAID IN EUROS.

Art. 13 The winners will receive their prizes during the closing ceremony, and if they fail to be present, the Organizer reserves the right to forfeit their prizes. Other prizes may be collected from Secretariat during the Competition . All winners are requested to perform for free in full concert dressing in the Final Concert to be held on June 7th. The performances will be recorded live on C.D. or DVD.

DURING THE FINAL CONCERT, THE FOLLOWING AWARDS WILL BE GIVEN:

THE CITY OF CORATO TROPHY Awarded by a panel made up of the President, Artistic director, Judges, journalists and 5 members of the public.

BEST LIVE RECORDING PRIZE awarded by a panel made up of the Artistic Director, President of Jury and Musical Director of AUDIONOVA, Matera. EUSTACCHIO MONTEMURRO.

Art. 14 The organizer reserves the right to make any necessary changes to these rules.

Art. 15 The Musical Association “Euterpe” is not be responsible for any unforeseen accidents or damage that may occur to anybody or anything during the course of the Competition.

Art. 16 The competitors, while register to the competition, authorize the diffusion of the photographic, radio, television and recordings. Can not claim any funding from the organization or the transmitting agency.

ANYONE WHO DOES NOT AUTHORIZE THE FILMING, HAVE TO NOTIFY AT THE MOMENT OF REGISTRATION.

Art. 17 These rules are unconditionally binding.

Art. 18 All personal information and data given to the Musical Association Euterpe is strictly confidential in accordance with Italian Law (Art. 10 Law 675/96).
